Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

This is an exciting position working with children, and offers the opportunity to do real back to basics OT work.  Mainly individual sessions with children aged 6 months - 18 years, but also some small group work as well. 

The children primarily have motor disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, with associated sensory and cognitive issues. Some work with children who have ADHD, but our main specialism is motor disorders. A chance to be creative as the centre's philosophy is play-based learning. 

Children coming to the centre love the range of toys and equipment available, and so will you!  Cookery, art and craft, handwriting, games, visual-perceptual, visual stimulation, mobility and hand function resources, alongside lots of specifically adapted equipment is available for use. 


Te āhuatunga a te tūrunga (About the role)

You will be involved in assessments, treatment planning and delivery, working with families, transdisciplinary team discussions, and generally promoting the good name of Little Stars in the community. 

You will have access to support and training.  A great opportunity to expand your knowledge and develop your clinical competency in a fun-filled environment.  An experienced Paediatric OT is onsite to help daily.

You need to be an enthusiastic person with lots of initiative and willingness to work in a very close-knit transdisciplinary team.  A belief in client-focused therapy and the importance of family in enabling successful outcomes is essential.
