Occupational Therapist (1.0 FTE)


Permanent full time, based in Whangarei


0.4 FTE wheelchair and seating service and 0.6 FTE Community


A unique and exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau working across 2 departments.


The split of this role is 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) with the Wheelchair and Seating Service and 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) based in the community. No night shifts or weekends are involved, and flexible working arrangements are considered.

Ideally, you will be a trained Wheeled Mobility and Posture Mobility Level 2 or are willing to be working towards.

Te āhuatunga a te tūrunga (About the role)

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • ·       Assess, prescribe and review wheelchairs and seating and assist individuals to achieve or maintain their functional potential.
  • ·    Provide Occupational Therapy which promotes independence, safety and wellbeing to patients of the Community Rehabilitation and Allied Health Services.
  • ·     Aligning with clinical and professional practices with Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau ward policies, protocols, clinical standards and values
  • ·       Contributing to the Clinical and Occupational Therapy teams

Ko wai koe (About you)

To be eligible for this role you will be a qualified occupational therapist with a current APC and 2 years post registration experience.  A current NZ drivers license is essential as some travel around the region will be required.
