Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

The role of Kaiwhakamahereora - Counsellor, Outreach is to assist students seeking counselling support in a timely and relevant manner. This is achieved through outreach calls to assess their needs, advise on their support options, and help them link in with appropriate support and resources. The purpose of the Student Counselling Service is to provide quality counselling to students to support their personal development and academic endeavours and to promote a culturally inclusive and caring environment for both students and staff. 

Te āhuatunga a te tūrunga (About the role)

Under the oversight of the Clinical Lead Counselling and Team Leads, Counselling, the Kaiwhakamahereora - Counsellor, Outreach is responsible for the triage of short-term, routine counselling requests. Through outreach calls, the Counsellor (Outreach) assesses the needs of the student and advises on their support options within Mauri Ora and when indicated, in the community. They contribute to Mauri Ora tiered approach to Health and Counselling support. The Kaiwhakamahereora - Counsellor, Outreach ensures that the student is receiving appropriate support according to the nature and urgency of their needs. All situations that require priority or urgent support are escalated to Counselling Liaison to organise alternative support options.
